First 'Real' Haircut

Haircut video

I told Grandma I was going to post this and then I never got around to it... so here it is. This was actually a couple of weeks ago. We went to Cookie Cutters for the first time [look April - my first link!]. I had given Piper a few uneven trims in the tub, but this was her first real haircut. She cried a lot and we probably won't go back for many months, but at least it's straight now :)

M&M's melt in your nose not in your hands

Silly me. I decided to run to Target to do some last minute stocking stuffer shopping Saturday morning. And sillier me, I took a 2 year old along.

We scored a pretty good parking space and headed right in. Of course, since the stocking stuffer aisles are overflowing with candy, Piper needed a "treat" in order to stay sitting in the shopping cart and not grab everything we walked by. M&M's are her favorite "treat". And right in front of us happened to be a container of mini m&m's. How convenient! So I opened them right up and handed her a couple. Success - no more screaming and grabbing from the front of the shopping cart. I happily continued browsing the aisles for a few more tid bits of holiday joy.

The next thing I know, Piper is digging at her nose - those darn boogers I'm thinking! But nope, not this time. Piper has pushed a red mini m&m up her nostril. It fit perfectly (they need to have a warning label on these things!). And the more she dug at it, the further it was heading towards her brain. I knew I had some tweezers in the car. So then came the dilemma. Do I wait 30 minutes in line to pay for the stuff in my shopping cart, or do I "steal" the mini m&m's and just head out to the car to find my tweezers and hopefully retrieve the m&m up Piper's nose? Hmmm. Then the third option came to me. I go to the cosmetic aisle and just get some new tweezers. So I found the tweezers, opened the package and then found a bench by the pharmacy window. I laid Piper on my lap to look up into her nose to see what I was up against. By this time, however, the m&m had begun to melt. So I began tweezing pieces of the m&m out of her nose, but it was a bit gooey and there was still a nice red candy coating in her nostril. Luckily the tweezers up her nose tickled a bit and she then sneezed out the last of the chunk. Yeah!!! However, I still keep wiping candy coated boogers out of her nose, 2 days later.

Piper, you keep us smiling, crazy girl :)

Bday pics

Piper had a pretty simple birthday - we went to Discovery Gateway for a bit and had Grandma over for pizza. Piper had a meltdown after dinner (how appropriate for a 2 year old!) and almost went to bed before even opening presents. We took a quick drive thru the neighborhood to see the pretty Christmas lights, which calmed her down rather quickly, and were able to make it thru opening presents. She loved all of her presents - thanks to the Grandma's and Grandpa, and Daddy.

This is how Zoei wished Piper a happy birthday - she's a bit of a couch hog...

Here is my hurried attempt to make Elmo out of a brownie as the meltdown was quickly on its way...

This is a cute block puzzle from Grandma & Grandpa in Idaho. Piper wasn't impressed that it made a cow picture, she just wanted to stack the blocks tall.

Mrs. Potato Head was a hit also, as was the cute pink and grey sweatsuit. Piper had to put the new outfit on the following morning and go to Grandma's work to show her the "pants" she had given her. And then there was the "Nemo" fish - way to go Dad. Piper has been feeding it stickers and paperclips. And she always says "Bye Nemo" when we leave the house.(Sorry Christine, Steve insisted on picking out his own.)(the orange clown fish is plastic - the blue/green fish is the live one - I'm not sure if Piper knows that)

Happy Birthday Sweet Pea!

Piper's 2 today!!

Yesterday Steve commented on how impressed he was that we've kept our little Piper alive for 2 years now! He said I've actually done most of the work though, so I deserve the presents - not her. Hmmm... I like that theory. Can't wait to see what Santa has under the tree for me :)

But I digress...

Our sweet little angel straight down from heaven. Look at that crooked foot. Silly Grandma - she thought it was going to be stuck like that forever. But nope, it just needed to stretch out for a bit.

2 months and all smiles

9 months - growing so big!

13 months - lovin' the snow

18 months - sittin' pretty

20 months - enough hair for piggies!

23 months - my little cutie patootie

This year went even quicker than the first. I think Piper wanted to remind me that today is going to be so much more fun than it was two years ago; she woke up precisely at 7:20 - the time I gave birth to her two years ago this morning! Thanks for reminding me Sweetie! (Like I'll ever forget.)

At 2 years old, Piper weighs in at 25 pounds and is 36.5 inches tall. She has 16 teeth, knows how to make lots of animal sounds, can count from 2-9 on occasion, says tons of words linking 2-3 together, and thinks every color is "blue".

*Things she loves:
-daddy, mommy, grandma, grandpa
-her doggie, Zoei (actually she loves tormenting her doggie by crashing her doll stroller into her)
-Monday lunch at Cafe Rio (to eat a "dilla" with Reagan & Nico)
-watching "Wiggles", "Nemo", "Elmo", and "Piper" (home video)
-singing - usually "ashes" (ashes ashes we all fall down) or "twinkle" (twinkle twinkle little star)
-balloons & balls
-Discovery Gateway
-Halloween (anything in a costume is a "halloween man" - she is off the Jesus is a halloween man kick, but now Santa is a halloween man)
-putting things in the garbage - yesterday it was the flashlight
-to jump and run fast (she likes to tell you that she is "fast")
-m&m's
-to say "I need, I need" while taking your finger and leading you into the kitchen to stand on the counter and look in the cupboard 500+ times a day
- sips off her daddy's coke
-her blanky and her binky

Happy Birthday Piper! Mommy & Daddy love you to pieces!!
