Redfish Lake Day 1

Camp... Steve, his brother Mike, Linda (Mike's girlfriend), & Makenzie (Linda's daughter)Our first, and probably best, dutch oven dinner - stew!
Smores after dinner.... {can you believe it was Linda's first time eating a smore!?!}Gooey goodness!Piper doesn't like smores, but burning marshmallows is right up her alley.

Redfish Lake Day 2

Max hangin at the cabin.
{Steve & I prefer "camping" in a cabin - Mike prefers "real" camping at a nearby campground, which works well for everyone - we cook at the campground and shower at the cabin!}Makenzie snuggling with Max.
The annual "Lady of the Lake" boat tour. It's the only way to get the kiddos to nap.
...and the views are breath taking!

Piper had been waiting forever to go fishing - Makenzie finally mastered the technique and caught 6 minnows in their net!
Beach time! The water was FREEZING!

Visiting the stables...
They gave the kids a little ride - it was a slow business day I think.
Video of petting the horses and a little pony ride...
Fish hatchery...

Feeding time video...

11pm - all ready for bed.

Redfish Lake camp song

This is Piper singing her favorite roadtrip song while we were getting ready to drive from the cabin over to the campground...

"Mouse in My Toolbox" {by The Laurie Berkner Band}

Side note: see the squirrel she's holding? Well, she was dying to catch a chipmunk. She and Makenzie left sunflower seeds and crushed up potato chips around camp to attract the chipmunks. She wanted to catch one so she could cuddle with it and make it her pet. She was getting really frustrated by the second day. So we went over to the General Store and just bought her a stuffed squirrel {they didn't have chipmunks}. She thought it was great. She would leave it on the ground, walk away, then turn around and run back to it to catch it, and then snuggle with it, of course. She's crazy.

Redfish Lake Day 3 & 4

Snuggly boy! Playground fun...
Yep - he's hungry, again!'Touching' the minnows Makenzie caught...
Paddle boats...

More beach time...
The lodge...
The swing outside our cabin...
We love Redfish!

I set the camera on a tree stump for these 2 pictures!
The campground. The cabin.
The gang:
Steve, Max, Mike
Kristin, Piper, Linda, MakenzieA quick stop in Twin Falls to see Grandma & Grandpa on the way home {my brother and his family were visiting, too}.
We had such a great time. The weather was perfect. We've been going to Redfish Lake for years {Steve & I both went with our families as kids}. Sometimes it snows on us. The kids were pretty good {lets not remind ourselves of the year Piper refused to sleep outside of her crib at home and we drove her around ALL night so she wouldn't wake up the other campers with her blood curdling screams}. Unfortunately this year, Steve's other brothers couldn't make it. Next year we're thinking Yellowstone.... plan ahead!

Check it out {from the library}!

So we were at the library the other day (Millcreek branch) and I saw this new thing they have - you can check out a kid's backpack that is filled with binoculars, an animal tracks book, bird identification book, and a field notes book {there were some cute notes from the previous kids who checked it out and saw tracks in City Creek}. So cute! They checkout on Wednesdays for a week {they made an exception for us since Piper was jumping up and down with excitement, even though it's only Tuesday}. We are taking it with us on our trip to Redfish Lake this week. Piper is sooooo excited.
{Sorry, Makenzie, I asked for two, but this was the last one they had - we'll share :)}
Of course Piper had to try it out as soon as we got home - well, actually she had to wear the backpack in the library and then take the binoculars into Home Depot before we actually got home. And yep, she fell asleep watching princess videos with it on!

On a side note, I called our cardiologist today to see if Max could come off the oxygen since he's doing so well.... but nope :(

Apparently he needs it for his high blood pressure, not just his saturation stats. I guess we'll be travelling to Redfish with tanks of O2! Ugh.
