Why do I have the feeling this won't be the last time I hear these words from Piper? Hmmm.

Have you seen this commercial? For the Butterfly Garden? Every time Piper sees it, she asks if she can have it. I usually tell her maybe for her birthday, or Christmas, etc. The other day she was tired and cranky, and that was not the answer she wanted from me.

So she screamed, "Mom, you're ruining my life!"

I asked her if going to swimming lessons everyday this week was ruining her life, too. It's not. Whew.

Whose kid is this?!

Piper entered a pancake eating contest this weekend at our church 24th of July celebration.

Yeah - the kid who rarely eats anything, especially pancakes.

She REALLY wanted this trophy.Her friend, Grace, was very helpful guiding the pancake in.

After she finished her first pancake {which we thought was amazing by itself} she realized that she hadn't won.So she went back in with Grace cheering her on.Her second, and third pancake! Huh? She finished them both!She would have been more disappointed that she still didn't win the trophy, but it was time for the bike parade. She had been waiting all week for this!

After the parade, she said her heart hurt - hmmm. Pancakes; racing around the block; 95 degree heat. Nothing a popsicle couldn't cure, though :)

Happy Pioneer Day

We celebrated Pioneer Day - the 24th of July - this weekend with food, family, friends, and fireworks!

Piper's summer ballet class ended with a fairy garden tea party in Miss Connie's backyard.

Well, actually, I was pulling the wagon. But one trip around the block was just too much for Piper this night.

Only in his crib does he kneel - yes, he does bend both knees! So why won't he crawl with both knees bent? Hmmm.

Summer fun

Thursday we went to Wheeler Farm for the DDI Family Fun Day. It was HOT and crowded. Piper didn't seem to mind, but Max & I just wanted to go home. Luckily, we ran into some friends who were waiting in line for face painting, and while the moms were chatting, the painting people just came through the line and painted butterflies on all the girls. So sorry to anyone who thought we cut in line - we really hadn't intended too!They also had pony rides. Unfortunately Max had had enough and was asleep by this time.Later, my niece & nephew came over to play. Piper showed them her Barbie Wii game, then got upset that they didn't want to play dress up with her.They finally all agreed to go outside for hide-and-seek.At.ti.tude.This is what your shirt looks like after eating pink Play-Doh.

Max is on the move. He isn't crawling, but is getting really fast at scooting. Here he is stuck between the side table and the couch.
