Piper decided she needed a place to put pictures and videos she takes. So she asked if she could have a blog ;)
So here it it!

Discovery Gateway
A quick outing to Discovery Gateway a week or two ago (with only the cell phone for pics)... Piper loves to climb the rock wall.

Max loves the water and had been known to climb right in ;)

Silver Lake Sunday
It's been so hot this summer. I love that we live so close to the mountains - we can head up to Silver Lake and be 10-15 degrees cooler in 30 minutes!
Max and Steve took naps after church last Sunday, so Piper & I drove up to Silver Lake.
We ventured off the boardwalk, since Max wasn't with us, and took a little more 'hike-y" trail.
The wildflowers are out in full bloom.
Butterflies were everywhere.
And check out these kissing chipmunks!
Lots of blue dragonflies, too.
Piper was especially happy that Max wasn't with us, so she could spend so much time climbing the big rock! Usually Max is either too impatient in the stroller to just sit and watch, or he's on the leash and and never going to just stand still waiting for his sister!

21 Hours in Vernal
We just survived 21 hours in Vernal (Steve had business
there Monday, so the kiddos and I tagged along):
4 people
7 packed bags
1 hotel room
1 slammed finger in the door
1 bee sting
4 teaspoons of children’s Tylenol
2 rainstorms
1 hail storm
1 tank of gas
1 iPad
2 Cell phones
1 DVD player
2 baby gates
1 poop incident on the carpet
2 times swimming
1 Benadryl tablet
3 hours of sleep
1 box of Jr Mints thrown across the bed
1 bottle of Pepto
5 binkies
1 Dinosaur Museum
And oddly, this wasn't the worst family trip we've ever had.
Gotta love travelling with Max. Won’t be doing it again anytime soon!
Time for swimmin'!
We gated the closet for Max's bed. He was fine with it... for about 10 minutes.
The hotel door lock allowed you to open the door enough to pinch a finger really easy. So we barricaded it closed to keep Max from opening it. So Max slammed the bathroom door on his finger instead.
The Dinosaur Museum gift shop - Piper saved $40 specifically for this place. She spent $5 ;) Funny how when it's your own money, things look much more expensive. After a good 30 minutes in the gift shop, we headed out into the museum to fill out the Jr Ranger booklet so Piper could get a badge for her Jr Ranger vest she got at the gift shop in Moab last year. That's when she got stung by a bee and went into shock. Her face turned white, and she said she felt like she was going to throw up. Awesome. We skipped the rest of the museum, Steve got the patch for her w/o having any answers in the booklet, and we drove home, with Piper crying most of the way. Max on the other hand, was still pretty tired from hardly sleeping the night before and slept all the way home (or maybe he was still a bit drugged) ;)

And now we are reassured that it was the right decision not to spend money on a summer vacation this year.

Street Parade
Our neighborhood has a little parade on the 4th. We're not morning people, so we haven't gone in past years. But Piper heard that candy would be thrown, so she was up and ready to go this year ;)
Max got a new ride - a Special Tomato! It holds up to 90 lbs! No more squished knees in the Graco stroller ;) Yay!!! And the best part - it was given to us by a total stranger. Someone saw him crammed into the Graco while we were talking to Steve's cousin last weekend, and afterward, came up to us and said they knew his cousin and saw that Max could maybe use this, as their kiddo had a growth spurt right after they got it and could no longer use it. One of those incredible blessings of being in the right place at the right time - a little divine intervention perhaps?
We waved to lots of friends.
Piper and her cousin scored on the candy - I think we'll be back next year :)
