Ironic?

Most everyone who has a child with Down syndrome has read the 'Welcome to Holland' essay. When I think of Holland, I think of tulips. Last year, while at the Tulip Festival, I got the call about adopting Max. When we were there yesterday, I realized how ironic that was... sitting in a garden of 250,000 tulips spread throughout 55 acres, beginning our journey through Holland.
I love tulips even more now :)

In case you were planning on going, the Tulip Festival is at the Thanksgiving Point Gardens, and runs through May 1st. We went a little early this year, only about 40% in bloom right now.

Still more pictures to come :)

Tulip Festival

We spent 5 hours today at the Tulip Festival {down at Thanksgiving Point}, and took exactly 400 pictures... seriously. Piper did not want to go home, so I kept taking pictures.
Piper was not happy at the over-zealous picture taking, but did smile for a couple.

We'll start with these. More to come :)

Finally

Max will sleep on his tummy! I wouldn't really care, except for the last several months, when he rolls over in his sleep, he cries until I go in and 'flip him over'. I don't know why he doesn't roll back over. I guess he's half asleep, or mad? Anyway, for the past couple of days, he hasn't been crying in the middle of the night... and this is why...

aahhh... at last!

And one last favorite family pic...

Tiny feet?

I bought summer shoes a size too large thinking Max's feet will grow into them... but I was reading on another blog that their toddler still wore size 2 shoes. And really, Max's feet haven't grown that much. We had them measured at a shoe store the other day and he is only a size 2 1/2.
I hate to stereotype, but is it 'typical' for kiddos with Ds to have small feet? Just wondering.

Fun in the Sun

We took a quick trip to southern Utah this week to find some sunny weather. Steve had a conference to attend, so we tagged along.
and watched tv...and swam...
and played at the park...and watched Piper...
and played with dragons...
and saw a cactus...
and swam some more...
and then came home.
